Synopsis: Kaffee Bankrott is the name of a homeless shelter and meeting house in Berlin, where people can gather to eat, wash their clothes, use the internet, and attend cultural events. In 2008, photographer Wolfram Hahn visited the center, met with some of its residents, and made a series of square-format color portraits, which were enlarged and exhibited in the Rosenthaler Platz subway station. This artist's book collects some of Hahn's most striking images and presents them along with an essay (written in German) by Daniel Klemm and photographs of the subway installation.
